I'm currently a member of the FreeTheNet.ca movement to build a mesh network in Vancouver. We started using Meraki nodes, and we're currently experimenting with custom firmware that will allow us to fill our unique requirements.

Current Recommended Software
- Freifunk Firmware - Recommended, because it is working on a modified OpenWRT Stable
- OpenWRT devel can allow you to get olsr either from the ipkg repository, or directly compiled into the firmware.
- OLSR - website for OLSR software to operate other systems
- WING - A site with researchers continuing where Roofnet left off
- ROBIN - A firmware that puts BATMAN on the Atheros AR2315 based boards (Meraki, Fon)
